Sweet pies

Since tonight is Changeling night, I'm probably not going to get a chance to post later on, so I'll just post now. I'm still at school. Ari was asleep last I checked, so I'm having to wait to get a ride home. Roads and sidewalks in our neck of the woods are still so bad that it's not practical to bike, so I'm dependent on my monkeys to ferry me around. Oh, and plus, I had to bring pies to school today :D

The pies went over really well at school today. Angelo liked both of them. We had them for snacks at Changelings (the historical linguistics study group, not to be confused with Changeling the roleplaying game), and no one even realized they were gluten-free till I mentioned it.

I haven't seen Ari much today- not since the morning- so I can't speak about her. We had a really sweet waking-up this morning, though. She was all snuggled up next to me and looking like such a sleeping angel. I'm looking forward to seeing her in person again soon.

Talk to the door

This is Ari this morning. She went, took all the clothes out of her drawer, and then decided to sit in it. The look on her face is because she's actually stuck, and I'm taking a picture rather than helping her out of her plight- I couldn't help it! It was too funny. :)

She's been all into sitting in things lately. The other day, I looked over and she was sitting in this mesh cube we use as one of her bookshelves. She was just sitting in there, no books, and holding her potato. Not even babbling or anything- just sitting quietly in a cube, holding her potato.

Her papa took her to the market today, and they gave her a balloon. It is her first balloon ever, and she spent all evening carting it around.

She lost her pumpkin, today- she was holding it while we waited for the bus, and she picked the exact wrong moment to drop it on the ground. It fell on the ground and rolled into the street just as the bus was driving up. No more pumpkin!

Tonight was the Changeling game, and she had great fun playing with all her friends. She spent a bunch of time playing with Jaime in particular. He kept rubbing the balloon on her head so her hair would stand up all funny. :)

Here we are together- she was nursing a moment before this. Like a monkey, as you can see. Why she wants to nurse one-legged is beyond me.

Cute Ari moment for today (beyond the previously mentioned ones):

As we put her to bed, she grabbed Thad's brimmed black hat, and was putting it on her head and dancing around. So, here's this baby in adorable dragon PJ's (thanks, Brooke! ;)), and a top hat on her head, dancing around on the bed. Awwww.... :D

A fine stallion

Here's my baby, reading. She's really starting to get use out of the swing Thad's Uncle Max gave her when she was born. Well, to be fair, we did use it a fair amount as an infant seat (it's all convertible), but she never got super into it as a swing, and the swing bit has long been retired into the basement.

We left the chair (as a rocker) up in the living room, though, and in the last week it's become a favorite spot. Check out her reading her book upside down there!

Anyway, we went around walking today. We got Thad a shirt for his Wash costume, and got some comics.

Here's Ari again, sitting in her chair like a big girl! She's also playing with her elephant (that Grandpa Marcus gave her), finally fixed at last. Thad got tired of it sitting on my mending pile and just did it himself.

Ari was really sweet today; she liked going for a long walk with us, and she went to bed relatively easily. She had couscous and peas for dinner- yum! We did not give her the chicken we also had. She is becoming such an incorrigible beggar. At some point, she's going to have to learn manners...

People came over tonight, and we played Changeling. It was pretty fun, if a bit chaotic. We played in the living room, which (while more spacious) was also kind of hot and busy. Ari crawled all around and played with everybody- which she loved. She really likes it when people are down playing with her.

D*Con countdown: 2 weeks. Costumes to go: a bunch!
